Safety Tips For Driving on Halloween

Orinda Motors cares about the safety of you and your family, and we want your Halloween celebrations to go off without a hitch. From goblins to princesses, we think there will be a quite a few distractions out there on the road. That’s why we have put together some safety tips for driving on Halloween. We want your Halloween night to be more treat than trick, so we encourage you to take a look at the list of the safety tips we have put together:

  1. Don’t use a cell phone or any other electronic device. In fact, we recommend putting it completely away, so it won’t even have the chance of distracting you. This way, you can focus on what’s in front of you. Who knows you might see a ghost gliding past you across the street?

  2. Pay close attention to crosswalks and intersections. Kids tend to dart across the street, eager to get to the next home and fill their bags with even more goodies, so be prepared for those enthusiastic trick-or-treaters.

  3. Make sure you drive at least 5 mph below the posted speed limit, and never pass a stopped car. A parent may be dropping off their children.

  4. If you are dropping off your child, make sure you put on your hazard lights or find a safe place to park.

  5. Always communicate with other drivers. Don’t neglect your turn signals or headlights.

  6. Turn down the radio. We all love to listen to our favorite tunes, but on Halloween night, we need to be on our A-game. With loud music, you might miss out on what is going on around you.

  7. Drive with extreme caution, especially when pulling out of driveways or crossing streets.

  8. If you are celebrating Halloween night, make sure you have a designated driver. The rate of incidents of drunk driving skyrocket during this festive night.

  9. If you see an unsafe driver on the road, contact your local law enforcement right away. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

  10. Last but not least, leave plenty of time for your journey. If you are driving rushed or worried about making it to your event on time, you won’t be able to focus as much on your driving.

At Orinda Motors, the safety of you, your family, and your vehicle are our utmost priorities, and we would be more than happy to inspect your car’s lights, so your visibility is not impaired on Halloween night. To schedule an appointment at Orinda Motors, call us at (925) 241-5759.
