PLEASE READ. On August 5 I had my Fiat 500 Abarth (IYKYK) towed to Orinda Motors for what I thought to be a dead battery. I selected Orinda Motors because of the glowing reviews, and especially because I wanted to support a local business. Upon replacing the battery ($500.22), Francisco informed me that the car still would not start. I authorized diagnostic tests to figure out what the issue ($235). This $235 inspection led them to decide they needed to get to the timing belt and cam shafts and dismantle the engine ($470 for partial dismantle). So, trusting and believing they had performed all diagnostics, I authorized them to dismantle my engine. A few days later, I received a call from Francisco now explaining that they didn't have the tools to complete taking the engine apart. I became worried (what kind of shop dismantles an engine without realizing they don't have the tools?!) and requested the engine be reassembled. I had the car towed to Fiat Burlingame. Within 15 minutes of my appointment time, the dealer using a simple multi-meter, determined that the car had a parasitic radio that would drain any new battery. Fifteen minutes. Fifteen minutes. Orinda Motors held my beloved Abarth for nearly 2 weeks and charged me $1242 to essentially do nothing other than replace a battery that went instantly dead. I requested a refund, never heard back, and have since lodged a complaint with BAR in the hopes of getting a partial refund. Please go elsewhere.

Update: Within hours of filing a complaint with the BBB, Jamie from Orinda Motors reached out. I explained what happened and that Francisco had never gotten back to me about a refund. Jamie explained that he would discuss with management and a few days later, called back to offer a $705 refund, which included the cost of the diagnostic test and partial dismantle of engine. I much appreciate the refund and Jamie's professionalism. It's too bad I had to reach out to BBB and BAR for a resolution, but it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil. Long story short: I went to OM after taking my car to the dealership. Jaime and his team were not only kind and super easy to work with, but were able to prove that the dealership did not do a thorough diagnosis of the real problem. The dealership wanted to charge me 3x what OM did to replace parts instead of finding the real issue and just fixing it. The text updates and ability to confirm the repairs you want done, with prices via an internet link was also great. Will definitely be taking my cars here from now on.
